February livestream
The second of my monthly informal livestreams delved into the preludes and fugues on C sharp. At a time when performing is virtually non-existent, there is something special about knowing that people around the country (perhaps beyond?!) are tuning in and sharing in this music.
Of course, the downside of homespun technology is that sometimes things beyond our control don’t work! (I have never missed the brilliant sound engineers and producers I’ve been lucky enough to work with as much as I do at the moment…!) On this occasion the sensitive facebook copyright sensors decided that part of the music was a recording by someone else (clearly not true, as I was playing it in real time, mistakes and all!) so blocked the video. Apologies to those cut off part way through the broadcast. I’ve put in a dispute claim with Facebook, but meanwhile you can catch the video here.
Annoyingly there is a ‘skip’ in the second fugue, where the recording went offline temporarily owing to this censorship…. particularly maddening as it’s my very favourite part of my very favourite piece in this set – but I guess it’ll make it all the more rewarding to play uninterrupted to real live audiences later in the year!
