Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier (‘The 48’)
Libby Burgess piano
The City of London ’48’ takes place as part of Temple Music Foundation’s Holy Week Festival, at Temple Church. The 48 preludes and fugues will be spread across six performances, interspersed between the concerts and services of the festival. Come to the whole lot to hear the whole collection of preludes and fugues, or just come to one concert for a smaller dose of the magic of Bach.
Inspired by Bach’s own dedication of this music for ‘the musical youth’ and ‘those already skilled’, the project is supporting Help Musicians, Live Music Now, Future Talent and Youth Music: between them these charities help hundreds of thousands of musicians every year.
There will be six free performances (c. 45-minutes each) during the festival:
Session 1: Tuesday 26th March, 9am
Session 2: Wednesday 27th March, 11am
Session 3: Wednesday 27th March, 7.15pm
Session 4: Thursday 28th March, 10am
Session 5: Thursday 28th March, 3pm
Session 6: Thursday 28th March, 9pm
Entry is free, and donations large or small will be encouraged towards the project charities.
