Future Talent on Channel 5 documentary

One of the four charities Project 48 is raising funds for is Future Talent. The charity featured last night on a Channel 5 documentary, ‘Katharine: The Compassionate Duchess’. Profiling the Duchess of Kent’s work across many fields, it focused particularly on her love of music, and her commitment to young people. For 13 years she taught in secret in a primary school in Hull, and in 2004 she co-founded with Nicholas Robinson the charity Future Talent.

“For thirteen years I taught music in a primary school in East Hull. I taught children with exceptional talent but I could not find any natural pathways for them to develop that talent. I saw the power of music in every aspect of their lives and as an extraordinary stimulant for growth.

Our vision has been to support talented young musicians from every corner of the country and in every genre of music. The benefits for these children are inestimable. We hope to break barriers down, enhance opportunities and make a career in music an equal reality for all, as well as to capture the power of music as a force for change that can improve young people’s lives.”
